And another point I would like to make, is that the place is run by an elderly couple. They are intrusive and nosy. And when I called to inquire about the return of the deposit, they were abrupt and rude. I have never been so disapointed in a place as this one. Stay away.

STAY AWAY!

Avoid this place at all cost necessary! Though the cabins are relatively tolerable, the owner is an incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming person. In fact, he's obscenely rude (particularly to women). During my groups stay, he would knock on our door almost daily and complain or yell incomprehensibly about something...no matter how minor. I would strongly advise folks to consider elsewhere for accommodations.

REVISED REVIEW: I eventually received my deposit back. I would like to note that this did not occur until the owners were threatened with a small civil suit. They claimed that they neglected to mail our refund due to an oversite. In my final analysis, the accomodations were nice. The proprietors, an elderly couple were poor managers of the business. If you choose to go to this place, just make sure that you understand in black and white what the business side of the arrangement is. And for the record, I think an accomodation of this type should be expected to make the beds, take out the garbage, themselves. I am not renting a cabin to socialize with the owner, and do not require or appreciate knocks on the door.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I also would like to give this place a zero review. I am not going to lie. The accomodations were pleasant. But be aware that they have no intention of returning your deposit. They will find some sort of excuse. They expect you to clean up after yourself. Fine. They expect you to make your bed before you leave. Fine. They expect you to wash the dishes. Fine. No where does it say anything about putting the dishes away. Can you believe that is their excuse for not returning a refund? They are all plastic mix-matched dishes anyway. Who can even recall which closet they came out of?

If I could give zero stars I would. The cabins were gross, smelly, unnkept. And the owner kept our entire security deposit even though we paid for two nights and left after one night, leaving the place exactly how we found it.

So I do not normally read, judge by or write reviews...but in this case I have to!!! On my way to the cabins (traveling with another couple who does read reviews) we did read all of the reviews and were a little nervous...but decided to not judge until we experienced the cabins ourselves. So I want to say, to those of you that had posted the negative reviews...you are clearly NOT outdoor adventure people or clearly ARE nose in the air city people!!! These cabins were rustic, maybe a little outdated (your renting a cabin in the woods folks, not a condo in Manhattan) they were not smelly or dirty, they smelled like rustic cabins in the woods, and mind you have been around for over 30 years! As a matter of fact, as hunting/fishing/camping cabins they were very nicely put together and decorated in a "cabiny" feel! If anyone felt they were run down, then at the age of 72, YOU try to maintain a small cabin community with multiple cabins that some people do not respect or appreciate or take care of because they were raised improperly! As far as the person that had to fight for their deposit...maybe you should have had a little more respect for yourself and not left the place a mess, which in turn left you looking like a disrespectful slob!!! We cleaned the place to exactly how we left it and received out deposit and a very nice thank you note within 10 days after our visit!!! Whoever said Mr. Matis was rude or nosy or whatever...you were clearly not raised to respect or appreciate your elders!!! The night we were to arrive, Mrs. Matis called us on the phone to tell us about construction and how to avoid it so as we didn't have any issues getting to the cabins, betcha no hotel would do that!!! And yes, Mr. Matis did come by the first morning to collect our payment, unfortunately we missed him, so he returned that afternoon and sat on the porch with us talking and sharing some pretty amazing stories, what a heck of a nice guy!!! The next day we were headed out to go 4-wheeling and he caught us and offered us some important information about where we were headed and shared a community day event that was going, he didn't have to do that! Other than that, we didn't see him, but we really enjoyed his visit when he was there. Needless to day...OUR visit was a very nice visit to the Cherry Ridge Cabins...very rustic, clean and had a very good time there!!! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Matis for providing a wonderful little cabin stay for us and our friends and God Bless you for your efforts in maintaining them!!!

I came for a get-away on my own and decided to stay more days than expected. I liked the cabin I was in and the privacy. The owner did come around and blew up at me once for something I did wrong, but once I showed him some respect he was okay. I only gave 3 stars for the almost daily visits, you don't see most owners for your whole stay. Also the tenant in one of the cabins was using a power saw all day on Sunday.

Go to see the pretty setting and (most days) quiet. Just show respect to the owner and you should get along fine.
